How to delete a recording
You may delete individual recordings directly in the Echomitter app without deleting your account.
- Open the Echomitter app and sign in to your account.
- Open the recording you want to delete.
- Use the available delete option for that recording.
- Confirm the deletion request in the app.
When a recording is deleted
Recording deletion is protected and is not always immediate. A deletion request may require a safety period or trusted-contact approval before final deletion.
Currently, deletion requests created by the account owner have a 14-day safety period, while deletion requests created by a trusted contact have a 48-hour safety period. A trusted contact may approve deletion earlier where the app features and account permissions allow it.
Data deleted
The deletion process covers the selected recording, media files, download files linked to that recording, and stored GPS location points.
Account data and other recordings are not deleted by this action.
Data that may be retained
Some limited technical records, such as information that the session was marked as deleted or the deletion request history, may be retained for system consistency, security, abuse handling, and audit purposes.
