How to delete your account
You may delete your account directly in the Echomitter app.
- Open the Echomitter app and sign in to the account you want to delete.
- On the Home screen, open Settings by tapping the gear icon.
- Select Remove Account.
- Read the warning that explains the 14-day deactivation period and tap I understand.
- Confirm ownership of the account. The exact step depends on how you sign in.
For a password account, enter your current password and tap Confirm remove. For a Google or Apple account, tap Continue with Google or Continue with Apple and complete the provider confirmation screen.
After the confirmation succeeds, Echomitter deactivates the account, clears push notification tokens for the device, signs you out, and schedules final deletion.
When data is deleted
After deletion is confirmed, the account is deactivated immediately. Final deletion of the account and related data is scheduled automatically after 14 days.
During those 14 days, you can sign in again to restore the account before final deletion. Trusted contacts may see that the account is scheduled for deletion while recordings remain available.
After 14 days, the automatic deletion process runs periodically, currently every 15 minutes. In a typical case, deletion happens after 14 days with a short technical delay caused by the job schedule.
Data deleted
The deletion process covers account data and data related to the account, in particular:
- the user account in Echomitter,
- the login identity linked to the account,
- recordings and video sessions owned by the user,
- related download files, GPS location points, and technical session data,
- notifications assigned to the account, push tokens, and trusted-contact relationships.
Data that may be retained
Some data may be retained for longer if required by law, app store rules, billing, security, abuse handling, or justified technical obligations. Examples may include limited billing records received from Google Play or Apple App Store and technical logs required to protect and maintain the service.
